a few more ideas

Just a few more ideas that have come to mind, take or leave what you want. any constructive criticism also welcome from others.

-Cricket score updates
i don't know if this is possible but as it is a cricket game some people might like to know the scores of recent or ongoing games maybe scrolling along the bottom every so often and with the ability to choose teams to be updated on?

-leagues, series, leaderboards
if you are adding more teams it might be quite fun to add a league or series so they can battle it out in so many overs to see who is the best, maybe this could work with multiplayer as well
leagues could have four or more teams and series could be between two teams?

-achievements, challenges
something similar to what the xbox 360 has where you have a list of things to achieve if you want ranging from easy to difficult that may add another layer for more experienced flick cricketers. i have a list of ideas for some, if you want i can post them.

-spin offs?
maybe for after you've finished everything with flick cricket you could work on spin offs such as flick cricket manager or in different sports such as flick golf, just an idea

these are just some newer ones that i dont think have been said before
thanks

re:more ideas

As far as updates, leagues, and achievements (or anything that attaches to the internets) go I am trying to get one of my old mates to give me a hand - 'cause I can't get through it all! I'll let you know how it goes.

I think I will stick with Cricket for the next game - my initial idea was quite different to this one, and gets into more of a management side. As it turned out, I enjoyed flicking a ball around the screen too much and aimed for an arcadey game first :)

My own thoughts on the "real

My own thoughts on the "real world" updates are that there wouldn't really be enough to be worth a dedicated feature - if there's an England series going on, I'll generally be listening on the radio, or watching in the TV.

FF - were you thinking along the lines of an RSS feed? I've no idea if it's possible, but that might be an idea as I guess they're pretty customisable.

As for the Leagues, Series and Leaderboards.

Hell yeah. Two thumbs up from me.

Glenn - is there anyway of distributing "beta" or working versions?

I'd suggest there's an enthusiastic group of testers you can call from here to help you along ;)

yeh i realise theres probably

yeh i realise theres probably not a lot going on, i thought it might be a nice idea. It's something i could live without but would be a nice touch if added.
there is the ECB cricket app which does this but you have to stop playing and i dont think it does leagues out of england.

I did think of something to add for the leagues and would probably be linked with online scoreboards. I'll try best to describe it.

Its where your scores are linked with your country and so when you win it contributes to your countries score. this is linked to a table for overall country rankings.

probably sounds confusing and maybe difficult to implement. If anyone has played grand slam tennis on wii they might know what im talking about.

thanks jez and glenn for taking the time to read some of my ideas and commenting

I'm not criticising, just

I'm not criticising, just trying to flesh it out, if it's something that people would want, and added to the appeal of the game, then it'd be a good thing :)

Tell you what though, the online scoreboard IS a good idea.

Are you thinking something along the lines of the "stick cricket" online league?

http://www.sticksports.com/cricket/index.php

First came across that four years ago, before the '05 ashes, and it was a most enjoyable way to get out of working!

Is that the kind of online scoreboard you mean?

don't worry, i know its not

don't worry, i know its not criticism and that its fleshing out which is welcome :)

i discovered flick cricket around that time as well, its a pretty fun game and ive actually just registered earlier today, not that good yet.

I'll check out what the online league is like there as im not sure what that ones like and then i'll comment again.

I think the basic idea is

I think the basic idea is that you 'represent' a country, and the runs you score for that country go towards an "internet total".

The country with the most runs or wins or points tops the table.

So if you were representing a county, country (or state / IPL team / Sheffield Shield / Province team), games you had won against the AI would go towards the county or country's totals and the internet scoreboard would be adjusted automatically.

Maybe based on net run rate, average score, that kind of thing?

yeh, that is the basic idea

yeh, that is the basic idea of what i meant.

the one thing that might be unfair is if one country has a lot more people than another country so a way to make it fair could be win percentage and have the others as stats where you could also see the leaders in those catagories.

What are your opinions on how to do leaderboards/leagues etc ?

I think percentages would be

I think percentages would be the only way to do it - without wanting to stereotype, I'd guess the UK probably has a lot more iphone / touch owners than bangladesh, so straight wins / runs / wickets wouldn't be fair.

online scorecard

Great thread - I've surfaced from code to add a quick couple of comments!

Fingers crossed, I may have a mate who can help me with the online scorecard stuff starting in a couple of weeks time. Once we get that working it opens up what we can do by a lot! I'm pretty excited about that one 'cause it opens up a lot that we can do (weekly challenges etc).

I'll get back online tonight and put in a few more thoughts.

Glenn

sounds good, cant wait to

sounds good, cant wait to hear your reply

having been playing stick cricket for a bit i must say i do quite like their stat tracking for your team and that you can change the order they bat as well as 15 on your team so you can swap players around

i also like the fact they have rankings for ODI and test cricket countries though the career stats could be a bit more extensive particularly when split into 5over, 10over etc

the hall of fame is quite good but could be done quite differently for flick cricket

i do quite like their league set up, it's different but i think it would be better if you could play each other in the league but that may be difficult to organise a time when you can play each other. maybe a method of typing messages would combat that?

thats all my comments on this topic for the moment, any comments from others welcome

Scorecards

Hi

Ive also enjoyed stick cricket fo a while (it doesn't play on Iphone!) and like the online scorecards.... I imagaine this will be hard to set up???? But in the meantime would it be easier to limit it to say a top 100.... ie top 100 batting/bowling averages; I'm thinking of a similar format to flight controller (or lots of other games). With a submit score option similar to the publish to facebook option.

What do you think?

Hi Tom (and everyone

Hi Tom (and everyone else),

I've been in bed with a bad fever for the last 4 days. I was supposed to be meeting with one of my old Uni mates who would like to help me with the website & online stuff - he is a busy dude but I hope to go over this with him in the next week.

I am also behind on FC coding now :( I will work to catch up this weekend.

Glenn

hey Glenn, hope you are

hey Glenn,

hope you are feeling better, im sure everyone here wishes you well

Hi Glenn, 1st) I love flick

Hi Glenn,

1st) I love flick cricket.

2nd) some ideas (for what they are worth)

* wifi multiplayer (pro version)
* turn based online play against a friend (pro version)
* adjustable difficultly (pro version)
* This one I don;t know how to explain, Basically I'd like a batting feature where I can set a high back lift. This makes me more likely to miss the ball but if I get a clean hit I'm more likely to hit a six. Basically increase the risk for increased reward. This could also be tuned down so that I'm less likely to get bowled but will also struggle to hit the boundary.

I think all these feature should be for the pro version.

You give so much away for free (I've not seen the need to upgrade) I want to see you make some real cash.

thanks

just to follow on from above,

just to follow on from above, I felt bad making feature request without the paid version I decided to buy it.
I just figure I owed you the money and if you make more sales multi player will be along soon ;)

I'm addicted to Flick

I'm addicted to Flick Cricket, go the PRO version now.

A few suggestions:

1. Have a highest Scores History. (it does mention 'you have beaten your previous highest score etc' but would like to have a tab too view the scoreboard.

2. Another Idea is to have highest scores board from any off the players who have bought the game. this would be good to compete with:)

Poll
Can you find it in your heart to forgive Glenn for version 1.03?
Absolutely not - he needs to get his sh*t together!
21%
Maybe - as long as he gets rid of the damn red arrow (iOS 4 in-joke there)
43%
I guess - He's an OK guy, already punished by Australia's poor form against England and Pakistan
